The church in its entirety is espoused to Christ. But not all will make it to the altar Please Note I am not saying that they wont stay saved. When talking of the church as the bride of Christ, we are talking of a relationship with Jesus while we are still here on earth a relationship that is so close and spiritually intimate that the best imagery to capture and portray it is that of a bride and groom. And not all of the espoused will press in to that kind of wonderful intimacy and closeness to the heavenly bridegroom.
